My Story

Yes, I have three loves: food, nutrition, and travel. I’ve spent my life exploring how these passions intertwine, and I’m only beginning to unlock their full potential.

After earning degrees in culinary and nutrition hybrid programs at George Brown College, I initially thought my path was to climb the culinary ladder from prep cook to head chef. Despite my eagerness to do so, I couldn't stop writing about my experiences and sharing my personalized recipes with anyone who'd listen. I knew my journey would be different. Everything shifted when I won a writing competition twice with the Canadian Digestive Health Foundation. That small victory gave me the confidence I needed, and I quickly assembled a portfolio and sought out freelance writing opportunities. Two years later, I’ve been thriving as a freelance writer and am also pursuing a career as a Registered Dietitian at Toronto Metropolitan University. For me, food and nutrition are perfect complements, allowing me to teach clients about nutrition while offering them practical, delicious recipes.

But where does travel fit into this? Since COVID-19, most of my classes have been remote. As much as I am a die-hard Torontonian, nothing beats leaving the city from time to time. My remote studies have allowed me to travel extensively. Since 2020, I’ve studied Eastern medicine with Hawaiian healers on the Big Island, prayed with monks in Bali, and spoken with centenarians in Sardinia. There’s so much to learn from the world, and if you ask the right questions, you might find kind souls eager to share a piece of durian, prepare an ancient Italian dish, or enjoy the latest Australian wine with you.

Food, nutrition, and travel are my love affairs. I will spend the rest of my life cherishing and writing about them.
